Thank you to everyone who helped us to celebrate 200 years of St Peter’s church during our bicentennial weekend at the beginning of September. The weekend began with a very moving outdoor service on the old church site. On the Saturday we held a flower festival and exhibition and had some wonderful displays of photographs, memorabilia, some very creative flower arrangements and even a wedding dress!
On the Sunday, Rt Rev Nick Baines, the Bishop of Leeds led our morning service and blessed our new wall hanging and our refurbished window. He greatly enjoyed his time with us and gave some lovely feedback about the service. Please call into church anytime and look at the new wall hanging and window.

We also have a special commemorative booklet that was produced for the occasion that can be purchased for £1.
It was a privilege to celebrate two centuries of worship in the different St Peter’s churches in Stanley and we want to give thanks for everyone who has been involved in its history over the years. We finally signed a long term lease with Wakefield Council for the church centre building earlier this year, and therefore can look forward to many more years of service to our congregation and community.
